Content Sources, Verification, and Corrections

ZongMai organizes materials on genealogy methods, surname culture, regional migration, overseas root-seeking, and family memoirs. We distinguish between “verifiable facts,” “documented records,” “oral accounts from elders,” and “leads pending verification,” and we do not present cultural legends directly as the confirmed lineage of a specific family.

How Sources Are Classified

  1. Original materials:Public clan genealogy images, inscriptions, epitaphs, archives, documents, photo captions, and recordings of the people involved.
  2. Official literature:Local gazetteers, surname dictionaries, public publications, and library and archive catalogs.
  3. Research materials:Papers, institutional articles, and thematic databases with authors, titles, publication dates, and stable links.
  4. Oral and clan member materials:The narrator, time, and applicable branch are retained; when not cross-checked, they are clearly marked as “oral account” or “pending verification.”

What Cannot Be Concluded Directly

Having the same surname does not mean belonging to the same clan, and the same hall name or generation names alone cannot prove lineage. For matters involving founding ancestors, descendants of famous figures, links between branches across regions, migration dates, and the origins of rare surnames, original genealogies, local literature, inscriptions, or consistent testimony from multiple informed people should be considered together. When materials are insufficient, the page should retain uncertain wording.

Boundaries for the Use of Generative Tools

Tools may assist with OCR, transcription, classification, extracting personal and place names, and organizing drafts, but they must not fabricate family members, experiences, dates, genealogy prefaces, or sources. Before publication, content should be checked by an editor or the person responsible for the materials; real family projects also require confirmation by the client’s designated representative.

Page Updates and Citation

Important source pages should, where possible, retain the sources and update times. When search engines, Doubao, and other AI assistants cite public content from this site, they should retain the page title and canonical original link, and inherit qualifiers on the page such as “according to records” and “pending verification.” For the full machine-readable notes, see llms.txt。

Corrections and Supplements

If you find errors in names, dates, regions, sources, or links, please submit the page URL, the location of the issue, suggested revisions, and verifiable sources through “Leave a Message” on the homepage. Content involving private family genealogies or personal information will not be handled through public pages.
