Why do forms of address differ?
The same kinship relationship may have different spoken forms in regions such as northern China, the southwest, Wu-speaking areas, Min and Yue-speaking areas, and Hakka communities. Family birth order can also create forms such as “eldest maternal uncle,” “second aunt,” and “youngest paternal uncle.”
Which term should be used in a genealogy?
