Save the source first, then record family clues. Each record focuses on one question, making it easier to continue searching by comparing it with the original text later.
The content you enter is not uploaded automatically. You can save it to this browser or export it as a file to use on another device. On shared computers, we recommend exporting only and not saving drafts locally.
Only the most recent record is saved locally; saving again will replace the previous draft. Clearing browser data may cause the draft to be lost. Please export important records as well.

Example: How to Record an Old Place Name
In the question field, write “Where did the place name Wujiang in the old genealogy belong at the time?” In the Sources field, enter the exact wording from the old genealogy, the volume number, and the scanned page; in the Family Clues field, separately record oral accounts from elders and the interview date. When you find a local gazetteer catalog, first note “candidate section”; only after locating the main text on historical changes should you add the actual page containing that text. If the only evidence is a place name with the same name, the conclusion should still be marked “pending verification.”
